Treasurer's report

Firstly, a very big "thank you" to you, our supporters, for the help you have given, both financially and in other ways, over the past year. For the year ended May 2001 we spent £37, 100, including £29,800 on Colin's salary and national insurance costs, £3,100 on literature and postage, £2,500 on office equipment and telephone, and £1,700 on travel, conferences and other costs. The trustees are unpaid. Until now our major cost (Colin's salary) has been generously met by an anonymous charity, whilst our other running costs have been met from individual supporters' subscriptions and donations. Funding from that charity was due to end in December 2000 and so during the year we made an appeal to our supporters, which produced not only a generous response (£10,000) but also an additional grant from the charity.

In total we received £46,700 in the year, including £25,500 from charities, £171 700 from individual supporters and £3,500 'gift aid' tax recovery. The trustees are most grateful to you for this continued generous support. Funds held at 31 May were £23,500. This is enough to finance the project until early 2002, whilst we seek necessary funding from the Community Fund and other sources to continue and develop the project.

( Copies of our Trustees' annual report and accounts to May 2003 are available on request from the office.)
