The Other Way book cover (51878 bytes)
The stories of lesbian and gay Christians are not often heard. This book contains the testimonies of fourteen lesbian and gay Anglicans, lay and ordained. The contributors come from evangelical and catholic backgrounds and describe journeys lived with courage, confidence, hope, determination and pain.

The stories recount the experience of reconciling sexuality and personal spirituality; the ways in which the pressure to deny homosexuality and marry have been resolved; the experience of calling, selection, training and ordination as a gay or lesbian; the damaging effects of inappropriate pastoral care; and the dignity, maturity and integrity that characterises the lives of many lesbian and gay Christians.

Colin Coward is an Anglican priest and psychotherapist who worked in the parochial ministry for 17 years. He is the founder and Director of Changing Attitude.

The book is offered as a contribution to the debate within the Church of England and as a resource for the 1998 Lambeth Conference.
