Changing Attitude New Zealand

9 February 2004

Changing Attitude has reached the bottom right hand corner of the world. A branch is now alive and well in Auckland, New Zealand. With two members of the Archbishop of Canterbury's Commission coming from Auckland, it is fortuitous that a Changing Attitude group has come into being over the last three months.

Three meetings have been held and six members of the Changing Attitude group were invited to join a support group for John Paterson, the Bishop of Auckland and Jenny Plane-Te Paa, Te AhorangiTe Rau Kahikatea which translated from Maori means the principal of the Maori theological college which is part of the College of St John the Evangelist. They are both on the Archbishop's Commission and the support group met to advise, support and reflect on the task of the Commission and the part that Bishop John and Jenny would have in it.

Also the Changing Attitude group has been invited to be part of the steering group organising an ongoing conversation/dialogue on issues of homosexuality which is being set up in the diocese.
