Human Sexuality Joint Strategy Group

12 February 2002

The Human Sexuality Joint Strategy Group comprises two representatives each from Changing Attitude, LGCM, the Lesbian and Gay Clergy Consultation and the General Synod Human Sexuality Group. The JSG met for the first time for a residential consultation before the July 2003 Synod, and has met twice since, most recently on Monday 3 February.

The purpose of the Group is to:
  • exchange information on current activities/plans/campaigns
  • identify potential overlaps and potential conflicts between the member organisations
  • agree ways of harmonising activities/information/and publicity
  • work towards an agreed theology from which the Group can develop a vision and a strategy for the churches.
  • to issue joint statements and reports when appropriate.

Cassandra Howes, the Groups Chair said: “We look forward to a visible and energetic network inspiring, informing, and encouraging the churches to be authentically inclusive”

The group has agreed to mount a joint presence at the opening of the General Synod meeting at Church House, London, on Monday 24th February, between 1.00 and 2.00pm, with banners from each group, and leaflets with the JSG press release to give out as synod members arrive.

Anyone who has time available on the 24th, is welcome to come and join us. We will be at the main entrance to Church House in Dean's Yard.
